Siyahi

“If it falls your lot to be a street sweeper, go out and sweep streets like Michelangelo painted pictures. Sweep streets like Handel and Beethoven composed music. Sweep streets like Shakespeare wrote poetry. Sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will have to pause and say, here lived a great street sweeper who swept his job well.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.

We, at Siyahi greatly enjoy being swept away by words. That’s why we love assisting writers in practicing this art form that can move human beings and touch souls.

After several years of supporting her writer friends with her honest feedback, CEO Mita Kapur founded Siyahi in the April of 2007 to help new voices be heard. From being one of the very first literary agencies in India, we have grown to become the most trusted in the industry. We are known for the transparency in our work, for our honesty in our dealings, the principles and values we uphold, and above all, our love for the work we do.

We are always on the lookout for gifted storytellers who can ruffle our beings with the power of their written words. Here at Siyahi, we’re with you right from the beginning. From editing the manuscript to finding the right publisher and promoting the book after publication, we stand firm by our authors through it all.

Our wide network of publishers includes leading Indian and international names. We also work with published writers to help catalyse vernacular and international translations of their books. We have sub-agents in USA, UK, Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Korea, Brazil, and Germany and also work directly with publishers worldwide.

Siyahi also works towards the dramatisation rights for our authors’ works. We work with film agents, to pitch for creative film and television adaptations, and are also in direct touch with leading independent and mainstream production houses.

We also organize literary events – everything from intimate readings to international literary festivals.

Tell us your story…and we’ll help you tell it to the world.
