When Major Sunil Galbale, a helicopter pilot reads the news about the northern hills being occupied by the Proactive Army (PA); he is stunned beyond belief. His mind goes back to the incident nearly a decade ago, when the PA had sent a ninety men strong squad of militants through the same unmanned interdivisional border that was not under observation. He wonders if it is the same area and his worst fears come true.

As he goes over a career spanning two and half decades from the time he joins the idealistic National Defense Academy (where character building is the prime focus), some things are obvious. Throughout the span of his career there are several instances of an absolutely casual attitude, things not being attended to and the defense of the country being left to the mercy of God.

Where is the redemption? Is there any at all, as generation next takes over? What are their values? Is the National Defense Academy serving its purpose or is it a mere white elephant? What is the state of communications, equipment and most important the men? Are the men sufficiently trained and do they possess the initiative and the drive? Will the archaic Army hold ground? Will the Navy float? Will the AF be airborne to counter the Dragon? Is Inactive Army
(IA) likely to get a collective kick in its backside again?
