Dhruba  is a novelist, historian, essayist, painter and social scientist and has authored various novels, travelogues, historical monographs, articles and books on history. Pharasi Biplab, Sandhanar Khyan, Varnabodh and Katha Ratnakar are some of his acclaimed books. Dhruba was awarded the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award for his book Kotha Ratnakar in 2009.
