Jeffrey Howard Archer, (born 15 April 1940) is a best-selling English author and former politician. Alongside his literary work, Archer was aMember of Parliament(196974), and Deputy Chairman of theConservative Party(198586). Even 35 years later, Jeffrey continues to defy his critics and delight his fans. His most recent collection of short stories,And Thereby Hangs a Tale, is now available in paperback. He is currently working on a five-part series of novels titled,The Clifton Chronicles. Now published in 97 countries and more than 37 languages, Jeffrey Archer is firmly established with international sales exceeding 250 million copies. Jeffrey has also written an original screenplay about George Mallory, calledPaths of Glory and has also completed the screenplay to his novel,False Impression. Jeffrey has been married for 40 years to Dr Mary Archer who is chairman of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. They have two sons, William and James.
