Buchi Ramagopal was born in India and spent his early years there. After he completed his undergraduate and master’s degrees he earned his Ph.D. in Economics at Indiana University, Bloomington. For ten years after that he was an academic, on the faculty at Middlebury College, the University of Vermont, and McGill University. He subsequently moved into banking. Buchi now lives in New Jersey with his wife, and his dog Pax, his writing companion. He has a son who is in graduate school, and serves as his advisor on all matters historical.
