Nandakumar K

Nandakumar K is an award-winning translator whose work spans fiction, autobiography, and literary non-fiction. His co-translation of M Mukundan’s Delhi Gadhakal, published in English as Delhi: A Soliloquy, won the JCB Prize for Literature in 2021. His translations include A Thousand Cuts, the autobiography of Professor TJ Joseph; The Lesbian Cow and Other Stories by Indu Menon; In the Name of the Lord, the autobiography of Sr Lucy Kalappura; Elephantam Misophantam (Aanaththam Piriyaththam), Anthill (Puttu) and Blackened (Karikkottakkary) by Vinoy Thomas; Zin by Haritha Savithri; You by M Mukundan; and The Wanderer by V Shinilal. His forthcoming translations, to be published in early 2026, include Thaskaran and Aano by GR Indugopan, and Eru by VM Devadas. After completing a master’s degree in economics, he began his career as a sub-editor at The Financial Express and later worked in international marketing and general management in India and abroad. He is the grandson of Mahakavi Vallathol Narayana Menon and lives in Dubai, where he works as a business analyst for a shipping line.
