Yugal Joshi

Yugal Joshi is an acclaimed Indian author and public intellectual whose works weave history, mythology, and the complexities of contemporary India. His writing reflects a deep engagement with the country’s diverse cultures and shifting narratives, combining scholarly depth with narrative craft.

His books include Boons and Curses: Legends of the Mythological Mother, Women Warriors in Indian History, Ram: The Soul of Time, The Singapore Water Story, and the award-winning novel Agnikal. In 2025, he published Yayavari, a Hindi short story collection praised for its sensitive portrayal of contemporary human dilemmas. His repertoire also includes translations such as The Phnom Penh Water Story into Hindi, along with research articles in international journals.

Alongside his literary career, Yugal has contributed to public service at the highest levels, including leadership roles in national initiatives and his current position at NITI Aayog. His work in governance has earned him honours such as the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration and the Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
