LIT FOR LIFE

Lit for Life is an attempt to make literature enthusiasts delve into myriad forms of writing as we traverse sessions on food writing, travel writing, film making, popular cult writing, literary fiction, dynastic politics and bring together literature as a whole in one place. In order to recognize the literary talent in Indian writing in English, The Hindu Literary Review has instituted The Hindu Best Fiction Award which will be announced at the end of the festival. The festival was held across the cities of Delhi and Chennai in September and October 2011. The festival played host to some eminent speakers including Indrajit Hazra, Kavery Nambisan, Khalid Mohamed, Mohammed Hanif, Rahul Bhattacharya, Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra, Rana Das Gupta, Shabana Azmi, Urvashi Butalia and saw some great performances by Bharatnatyam dancer Alarmel Valli and actor- comedian Vir Das.  Siyahi is the creative consultant  for the programme.

The Literary Review has featured some well known authors and poets like Salman Rushdie, Namita Gokhale, Bulbul Sharma, Vikram Chandra, Shobaa De, Kiran Desai and newer ones like, Mohsin Hamid, Kamila Shamsie, Benjamin Zephaniah and Rana Dasgupta who have also made their presence felt on its pages.
