Author of the bestselling and critically acclaimed novel The Circle of Karma, Kunzang Choden was the first Bhutanese woman to be published in English. She started her career collecting vanishing Bhutanese folktales and moved on to novels, a study of food and culture, and children’s books. Her works have been translated into many languages including Sinhalese, French, Dutch, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Turkish and Hindi. A winner of the SAARC Literature Award 2023, she is already well known for both documenting and reflecting on the experiences of a rapidly changing Bhutan.
