Nandakumar K started his career as a sub-editor at Financial Express, followed by stints in international marketing and general management in India and abroad. Having travelled in over fifty countries, he claims he can speak enough German and French to save his life. Strangely, using a borrowed dictionary, his tryst with translation started with a scientific paper in French on blood diseases of fishes which he did for his sister-in-law.
His co-translation of M Mukundan’s Delhi Gadhakal, Delhi: A Soliloquy won the JCB Prize for Literature (2021). His other translations are: A Thousand Cuts, the autobiography of Prof TJ Joseph, The Lesbian Cow and Other Stories written by Indu Menon, In the Name of the Lord, the autobiography of Sr Lucy Kalapura, and Anthill, written by Vinoy Thomas.
