Rochelle Potkar

Rochelle Potkar is an alumna of Iowa’s International Writing Program (2015) and a Charles Wallace Writer’s fellow, University of Stirling (2017). The author of poetry books, Four Degrees of Separation and Paper Asylum – shortlisted for the Rabindranath Tagore Literary Prize (2020) — she also co-authored The Coordinates of Us/ सर्व अंशांतून आपण, a book of cross-translated poetry in English/Marathi, and Bombay Hangovers, a collection of short stories. Prize-winning and widely-anthologized, her poetry film Skirt featured on Shonda Rhimes’ Shondaland. Her first screenplay was a quarter-finalist at the Atlanta Film Festival Screenwriting Competition (2020) and an NFDC India Screenwriter’s Lab (2018) selection. She is an industry expert on syllabi boards of two top Mumbai universities and was invited thrice as a creative-writing teacher to Iowa’s prestigious International Writing Programs, Summer Institute (2019) and Between the Lines (2022, 2023). She conducts poetry workshops mainly with the Himalayan Writing Retreat.
