Shabir Ahmad Mir

Shabir Ahmad Mir is writer based in south Kashmir’s Pulwama District. His works(Fiction/Non-fiction) have appeared in The Hindu Business Line, The Outlook, Mint Lounge, Huffington Post India, The Kitaab International, The Tuck magazine, Arts and Letters (The Dhaka Tribune), Greater Kashmir, Rising Kashmir, Kashmir Lit, Kashmir Life, Kashmir Pen, Wande Magazine, Inverse Journal, Learning and Creativity Journal, Different Truths Magazine etc. His short stories have also been anthologized widely.

His short story The Djinn who fell from the walnut Tree was shortlisted for FON South Asia Short story award-2016 and declared first runner up. He has been awarded The Reuel International award for Fiction 2017. His debut novel, The Plague Upon Us was published by Hachette India in 2020 to wide popular and critical acclaim. The Novel was included in the best Indian fiction lists of 2020 by many popular publications and was shortlisted for The JCB prize for fiction-2021.

His other awards/recognitions are: winner of Silhouette-learning and creativity short story contest; Finalist at Dastaan-stories untold, Season 3, 2nd prize at world Union of Poetry Prize for India; 2nd prize for Shakespeare Poetry contest conducted by Farooq College, Kerala. He was also invited as a writer-speaker at the Jaipur Literature Festival-2022 and Kerala Literature Festival-2022.
