Growing up across the country, Soumya Mukerji turned sponge to diverse cultures and ways of life, an experience furthered in her roles as narrative journalist, writer and editor. Soumya’s practice of over 15 years straddles convergent and counter cultures, creative lifestyle and travel, global literature, multidisciplinary arts, human stories and social issues. Her work spans major media such as The Guardian, The Hindu, NDTV, STIR, Platform Magazine, The Alipore Post, Hindustan Times and The Times of India. She travels often in nature and goes back home to poetry.
Soumya believes that poems are an attempt at connecting through our deepest vulnerabilities, wildest wonders and shared anxieties. An instrument of sensitization and a hope for action emanating from earnest empathy. Cri(s)es marks her book debut.
